LANDING STRIPS

As Lysander operations took place at night, landing strips had to be lit by flarepaths. A flarepath laid out in the form of an inverted L, required a reception party of three people with torches, positioned at points A, B and C (see diagram).

Note: this diagram was taken (and adapted) from an article on Lysanders. I am uncertain as to the origin of the article; it may have been in a publication entitled "Armement Clandestin, SOE France, 1941-1944".

Hugh Verity claimed that he could land a Lysander within the space of 150 yards.
